Theatre Training Program

Our Vision: To provide a positive, supportive and inclusive learning environment where young people feel safe and confident to express themselves and have FUN participating in theatre

Our Teen Players - Theatre Training Program is designed for students aged 13 to 18 years who want to be part of a play with like-minded teenagers. The program consists of a one full-day theatre training workshop during the school term. Then continues with an intensive training and rehearsal period in the first week of the school holidays. The program concludes with students performing a full-length play in a proper theatre, with live audiences, in the second week of the holidays. 

We foster a positive and safe environment throughout the entire program to ensure all our actor’s feel encouraged to create and play in a supported, fun environment.

Our next Teen Players Program date & production are yet to be announced. Places in this program is strictly limited so we recommend joining our mailing list so you can be informed when the next program is announced and enrolments are open.

Our 2022 production was an original play written especially for this program, adapted from the book of the same name, The Velveteen Rabbit.

CLASS TIMES
One Workshop on a Sunday during the School Term

WHAT WE PROVIDE
- 1 full day workshop and 11 full days of rehearsals/performances in the School Holidays
- A team of professional theatre educators
- All of the costumes (except shoes), make-up, props and sets for the production
- A printed script the students will get to keep after the production
- An actor’s notebook/rehearsal journal to keep
- A Child Players ACT bag with pencil case and stationery to keep
- A link to a professionally filmed video of the production and production photos
- x2 complimentary tickets to a performance

CASTING AND JOB ALLOCATION PROCESS
No audition is required to participate in the program. Students be assigned a role(s) based on their demonstrated skills, confidence level, and ability to take direction during the workshop classes. Every student will have individual lines and a chance to shine onstage.

PROGRAM FEES
$600.00

Refunds due to withdrawal from the program will only be provided if the place can be filled from the waiting list. No refunds are available after the program commences. A 10% administration charge will be applied.

WORKING WITH VULNERABLE PEOPLES (WWVP) CARD
All participants over the age of 16 will need to hold a WWVP card. You/your child can apply for a volunteer card here.

  • Yes! To ensure all children get the most out of the program we do ask parents/guardians to help us with the following.

    • Ensure your child is available to attend all classes, rehearsals and productions. This doesn’t include if your child is unwell.

    • We take a lot of careful consideration when casting the children and placing them into a role where we know they will learn and thrive. We would appreciate your support on our casting decisions.

    • To ensure the students are as confident as they can be for the performance we ask for your support in learning lines at home.

    • We would appreciate your help promoting the show, where you can, so that the children can experience performing to a full, lively audience!

  • Yes! To help with busy work and life schedules we do offer before care from 9am and after care until 5pm during the School Holidays. There is a fee of $5.00 per day for before care or after care ($10.00 for both).
